When we moved into our humble abode back in 2016, our backyard was as empty as a cookie jar in a room of toddlers. The place had been deserted for ages, with just squatters making occasional appearances. With no green thumb game plan in mind, our first mission was to bid farewell to the collapsed pool deck disaster from the above ground pool and revive a hint of green in our yard.

Now, I'm no garden guru here to drop wisdom bombs, but I must say, our plant babies seem to be thriving! All this green goodness came at a cost of around $200 for supplies and another $100 for soil and bark. We're beaming with pride at the progress and can't wait to harvest the fruits of our labor this summer. Let the veggie party begin!

Zoom to the present day, and our backyard is a whole new ball game. We kicked things off with a tiny garden patch, only to realize over time that we needed more veggie-growing real estate. You know, to manage the zucchini invasion that mysteriously pops up everywhere like mischievous garden fairies at the end of summer.
So, this year, we went all out, splurging on raised beds, top-notch soil, and magic additives to give our green babies the VIP treatment they deserve. Once the season wraps up, we plan to tuck them in under cozy weed blankets for the winter months.
For sure the garden went through some transformations over time, including the inclusion of the little chicken wire fence today to keep the puppy from eating the zucchini blossoms. Alas, as we progressed so did the winter weeds during the rainy winter and spring months.

I probably should have taken additional time to make sure that all the raised beds were level.
